Thirteen defendants, including two ringleaders, pleaded guilty to participating in an underground sports-betting ring based at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey, authorities said.
The 13 were among 24 indicted for operating a bookmaking ring that operated in the poker room at the Borgata and took in $60 million in bets over 20 months, state Attorney General Anne Milgram said.
Gamblers bet on professional and college basketball and football games using a password-protected Web site and calling a Philadelphia wire room.
